Safety Wiring #1, practice to wire perfect.
To get the Ninjette ready for the track, I downloaded the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association 2015-2016 Winter Session Rulebook to see what I would need to do to prep the bike for race outings. The first thing to do is safety wire all critical fasteners which are anything related to oil, coolant, brakes etc.
This is a long process that involves lots of wrenching, broken bits, cursing and wasted pieces of wire littering the floor of my shop. Here are some of my practice results:
The caliper bolts are hardened and took almost 30 minutes each with at least one broken bit and one burned up bit. These will be redone a little tighter after I get through troubleshooting a hanging throttle condition and get the bike on the road to test out the its performance. Before I hit the track I'm going to go over the bike front to back and clean, torque, lube, inspect and do whatever is needed to make sure I keep the rubber side down throughout the race season.

The radiator cap. I wired it to the radiator bracket.
The front axle and front caliper bolts. The axle wire is wrapped around the axle and wired to a hole I drilled in the bottom of the fork stanchion. The caliper bolts are wired together so that if one tries to loosen, the other one pulls it tight. The caliper bolts are hardened and took almost 30 minutes each with at least one broken bit and one burned up bit.
