FInally, back in the shop!

I've been away far too long, but last night I got a chance to get back into the shop and access where I left off with the Ninja race bike project.

Something I tried while on my trip was some hard Root Beer. Its Root Beer with about 5.5% alcohol and I found these pint cans in my local grocery store. So this shop session was liberally lubed by a nice fat pint of adult grade Root Beer.

This is the reason I needed to get out here as soon as possible. I have two magnetized trays of nuts and bolts and I really only remember where about half of them go on the bike. I'm confident that I'll put them all back in the right place, but the chances of that start to diminish the longer they sit in containers off of the bike.

More parts that have to be put back on the bike. At least these ones will be easy to figure out where they go. The swing arm and shock got cleaned up in a previous session. The chain needs to get cleaned completely. I think I'll soak it in something to ensure that no grit from the shop work got worked into the links.

This is how I left the bike and this is how she was sitting when I got back. Along with figuring out where all the nuts and bolts go, I went through the bike and labeled all the various wires poking out of the main loom. I also took about 20 pictures of all of the cable and wiring routing so that after I pull the wire loom I can put it back on with confidence that I can get everything plugged back in and working.

My other project, the TX750, awaiting my shop love. Once I get my reimbursement from various travel and work related expenses I am going to get a tool box bench and flip the engine from this beastie up there and finish that rebuild. The Ninja will be going back together soon and I'm eager to get out for a ride on the V-Strom. Lots of good content to come and I promise to catch up on my posts from two weeks of work related travel over the holidays. Stick around for more Motorbike fun!
