A Nice Surprise!

While cruising through Gulfport, MS last night, my coworker pointed out a shop he thought I'd like. He knows I'm into Motorbikes. Heck, anybody that gives me five minutes of their time will soon find out what my Obsession is. Today we stopped by for a look. From the outside it had a nice look of a cool little independent shop that you can occasionally find out in the motorcycle wild. I love these shops as they are as willing to have a chat with you as they would sell you something. I was not disappointed.

Right away I saw this little gem. An early 70's Honda 100cc scrambler that looked well restored. My neighbor just picked up one of these to restore for his wife and they look like a blast. They also had a Honda CL350 scrambler in the window that would be one sweet ride.

Look at that pretty blue paint. This 100 was ready to go!

Right away I was impressed with the shop. They had a great mix of modern gear for sale and vintage signs and parts decorating the shop. I quickly made my way to the t-shirts and grabbed one. After all when you find a shop like this you have to support these small businesses.

I saw this tank sitting on the shelf and was blown away. I'm pretty sure from the gold and black tank stripes and the orange gold metal flake paint that it is a '73 Yamaha TX tank either from a 750 or a 650. Yamaha used this color for both models in the early '70's. I chatted with one of the guys behind the counter. My first question was "where were you guys two years ago?". I moved to California in the summer of 2013. He told me that they started up in December of that same year. My loss is Gulfport's gain. I would have taken my TX750 here if they would have been around when I was.

They had some other bikes for sale. Mostly Harley's as that is what most people ride in these parts. They also had a really nice looking VFR1200 and a BMW K1600 that would make a superb 2-up sport tourer for the wife and I.

Another fine piece of iron that was clean and ready for some riding.

This is a great find and gives me hope that I can find some more great Motorbike interests while I have to be here. If you can, stop by their website at frenchandsonsmotorcycle.com. If you are in the area, stop by and support this great independent motorcycle shop. Be sure to tell them you heard about them here at My Motorbike Obsessions.
